AS Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro would like to keep Maghnes Akliouche with two weeks left in the transfer window: "We hope to show him that an extra season at the club would be beneficial for him."

Thiago Scuro was asked about the end of the transfer window and the situation of Maghnes Akliouche, shortly after the presentation of the new Monaco goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky, this Thursday in La Turbie.

The ASM general manager has indicated that he hopes to keep the 23-year-old attacking midfielder, two weeks before the summer transfer window closes. The Tremblay-en-France native has a release clause, but the Principality club is expecting €70 million to transfer him. Several clubs are reportedly interested (Paris, Manchester City, Inter Milan, Leverkusen, Arsenal), but none clearly have the means or the desire to meet Monaco's demands.

A status quo from which the Brazilian leader seems to want to take advantage.

Will Akliouche risk leaving his youth club at the end of August, without having been able to complete a full preparation period with his future team? This question could arise for the 23-year-old playmaker, who dreams of discovering the French national team and who does not want to make a mistake a year before the World Cup.

"The percentage chance of Maghnes staying? I'm not a statistics expert," Scuro smiled. "It's very difficult to give you one. I said it from the beginning of the summer, he's a unique player in my eyes. He feels good at Monaco, so no one is in a hurry in this situation. We hope to be able to show him that at least one more season would also be beneficial for him. But it's not just our decision. There are still two weeks left, let's see what happens. Our ambition is to keep him, and there is no deadline (to decide the case) . It's the last day of the transfer window and the industry that sets the deadline, not me. This doesn't mean he'll leave by August 31 (the transfer window will close on September 1 at 8 p.m.) ."

For his part, his coach Adi Hütter acknowledged that his team would not be the same with or without the Olympic runner-up. "Would our face change? Yes, because he is a unique player with his movements and decision-making," replied the Austrian.
